|COVID-19: ORS4 1482 Renewal of Gyroplane Class Ratings in UK PPL(G)|
The UK CAA have published ORS4 1482 exemption to meet an urgent operational need, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, to offer UK Flight Crew Licence holders an alternative option when renewing gyroplane class ratings in accordance with Schedule 8 of the Air Navigation Order 2016 (as amended),subject to any conditions specified in ORS4 1482 until 31 August 2021.
This exempts the holder of a Licence from the renewal requirements of Table 3 in Chapter 1 of Schedule 8 of the Air Nvaigation Order 2016 (as amended), subject to the conditions until 31 August 2021.
The conditions are as follows:
Licence holders with a single-engine gyroplane class rating that expired between 1 November 2020 and 31 August 2021 may renew their rating by either:
i) passing a general flight test with a Flight Examiner (Gyroplane) (FE(G)); or
ii) completing flight instruction with a valid Flight Instructor (Gyroplane) (FI(G)):
1) so as to complete a minimum of one-hourdual flight training with anFI(G) to include all manoeuvres required to be flown in the flight test, plus any additional refresher training as deemed necessary by the FI(G); and
2) provided the FI(G) hasendorsedthe pilot’s personal flying logbook to confirm that the class rating renewal training was completed satisfactorily.
Upon the successful completion of either renewal requirement the FE(G) must have endorsed the Certificate of Revalidation in the normal manner.
This is an alternative means to renew the privileges of the gyroplane class rating and not an extension to the existing validity period endorsed in the licence holder’s Certificate of Revalidation.
Licence holders taking advantage of this exemption must have completed all the relevant actions above by no later than 31 August 2021.
