After a 3 year freeze on membership rates we have unfortunately had to raise some our rates by a small amount for 2022. However, we have continued to hold rates unchanged for 1 and 2 year Pilot or Instructor membership if you choose to pay by Direct Debit. If you wish to pay by Direct Debit please select the Full Member option above, then the Offline Payments option and select the relevant Direct Debit option link.
About AOPA
The Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association UK is part of the largest General Aviation (GA) Association in the world, through the Council of International AOPA's IAOPA). IAOPA is the only GA organisation recognised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
Spanning 75 Countries, each National AOPA is an independent Association. These are grouped into Regional IAOPA's. In the case of AOPA UK, we are grouped with IAOPA Europe.
The primary function for each National AOPA is to Lobby (Advocate) for their members and the benefit of GA in their Home Nation. Collectively, each IAOPA Region seeks to promote GA more widely and lobby for common sense and proportional regulation and recognition of national standards for all, using best practice examples where these exist.
We are committed to the fair treatment of GA in the UK and elsewhere, without favouring one sector over another or one activity over another. We do not see Private flying as purely recreational or sport flying.
We support regulation that is proportionate, fact based and beneficial to GA. We oppose excessive regulation, red tape and unnecessary bureaucracy. We oppose regulation that places a cost burden on GA without an appropriate benefit.
We are involved in the Department for Transport's General Aviation Roadmap, the CAA's plans for the future of GA and the UK Airspace Review, with particular focus on Lower Airspace and shared use with UAV's/Drones.
We have a keen interest in Aircraft Maintenance standards, with particular focus on Certified Aircraft. The established AOPA Maintenance Working Group brings together AOPA, LAA, Owners, Operators, Maintainers and the CAA.
We support the need for simpler and more accessible Ab-Initio Training, Pilot Licencing, Medical and advanced training opportunities where these can be achieved without any loss of safety. Through the AOPA Training and Education Committee we bring together Training Organisations, Flight Instructors, Flight Examiners and the CAA to drive the needs of GA.
We fight to preserve our GA Airfields, working with our colleagues in the General Aviation Awareness Council (GAAC) and supporting our members efforts to support their airfield if it is under threat.
